Cardi B, the outspoken rap sensation from the Bronx, New York, is finally putting an end to the waiting game. After years of anticipation, she’s officially announced that her long-awaited second album, Am I the Drama?, will arrive on September 19, marking seven years since her explosive debut Invasion of Privacy in 2018.
Since storming onto the music scene with her chart-dominating single “Bodak Yellow,” Cardi has become one of hip-hop’s most influential voices. Her debut album didn’t just earn her a Grammy—it went four-times platinum and set records as the first solo female rap album to win Best Rap Album at the Grammys. Now, fans are bracing for what she promises will be a bold, defiant return.
“Seven years of love, life, and loss. Seven years I gave them grace, but now, I give them hell,” Cardi declared in a dramatic voiceover announcing the album. She described the new project as a reclamation of her power—shedding tears, feathers, and anything holding her back. “I’m not back, I’m beyond.”
Her upcoming record will include fan-favorite chart-toppers “WAP” and “Up,” both of which previously hit No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100. Addressing critics who questioned why these tracks are appearing on the new album, Cardi took to X (formerly Twitter) with her usual unfiltered candor: “My fans have been asking me to put them on an album… they deserve a home.”
Cardi also reminded fans and detractors alike that the inclusion of these hits won’t boost her first-week sales, so any backlash is misplaced. “I let haters make me not submit ‘WAP’ for the Grammys. At this point, I’m giving my fans what they want.”
The release campaign kicked into high gear with the arrival of “Outside,” Cardi’s first single of 2025. She debuted the fiery track live during Spotify Beach at Cannes Lions in France and later dropped it officially on June 20. “Outside” sets the tone for a high-energy summer for Cardi and her loyal fanbase, the Bardi Gang. It’s also her first solo release since last year’s “Enough (Miami).”
Aside from music, Cardi has also been making headlines in her personal life. The rapper recently confirmed her relationship with NFL star Stefon Diggs, and the couple turned heads while staying in a luxurious castle during Paris Fashion Week.
Between her bold comeback, new music, and a fresh chapter in her personal life, Cardi B is more than ready to take center stage again. With Am I the Drama?, she’s not just returning—she’s rewriting the rules.
