In the wake of multiple sexual assault allegations, Diddy has experienced significant business setbacks, with 18 brands terminating their partnerships with his Empower Global project. Empower Global is an e-commerce platform dedicated to uplifting Black-owned businesses, but the allegations against Diddy have prompted numerous partners to sever ties.
Some of the brands that have cut their associations with Empower Global include Tsuri, Nuudii System, No One Clothiers, Fulaba, and House of Takura. The catalyst for this exodus appears to be Cassie Ventura’s initial lawsuit against Sean Combs, filed last month and subsequently settled “amicably.”
Annette Njau, founder of House of Takura, expressed the seriousness of the allegations and her commitment to victims’ rights, stating, “We take the allegations against Mr. Combs very seriously and find such behavior abhorrent and intolerable.”
Lenard Grier of No One Clothiers emphasized the difficulty of the decision but noted that it was the correct choice, saying, “We once held reverence for Mr. Combs as a leader in business and entertainment.”
Ashli Goudelock, owner of Tsuri skincare brand, made it clear that her company could not remain associated with any ambiguity regarding the mistreatment of women.
Rebecca Allen, of the eponymously-named shoe brand, cited both the allegations against Diddy and the platform’s underwhelming performance as reasons for their decision to terminate the partnership.
Diddy has staunchly denied all allegations and, in a recent Instagram statement, declared his determination to clear his name. He wrote, “Enough is enough. For the last couple of weeks, I have sat silently and watched people try to assassinate my character, destroy my reputation and my legacy… I did not do any of the awful things being alleged. I will fight for my name, my family, and for the truth.” The mogul also stepped down from his position as chairman at Revolt, the TV network he founded in 2012, in the wake of these allegations.
In response to these allegations, Diddy also stepped down from his position as chairman at Revolt, the TV network he founded in 2012 and lost movies/shows deals with companies such as netflix. .
