Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson can add rapper to his list of qualifications. Although Rock earlier featured on Wyclef Jean’s 2000 song, “It Doesn’t Matter,”, he was anticipating the right time to perform his official rap debut. “A lot of my friends who are hip-hop artists—like big names—I’ve been asked a few times. But it just has to feel right,” he shared.
The award-winning actor made his rapping debut on Tech N9ne’s new single, “Face Off,” which also features Joey Cool and King Iso. During his interview with Variety, The Rock said “I love music. Anytime in my movies when I can implement some musical elements, I always love doing that”. “Face Off” can be found on Tech N9ne’s new album ASIN9NE, which also features Lil Wayne, E-40, and Snow Tha Product.
The Fast & furious and Jungle Cruise star has been a longtime fan of the independent artist and has posted his songs on social media. Several years ago, the two met in person on a set of HBO’s “Ballers,” but the collaboration didn’t come collectively until Tech N9ne DM’d The Rock. “The biggest star in the world said something back to me! Do you know what I’m saying? I am hyped. We are all hyped!” Tech N9ne said. “When Tech texted me, I knew I would make this work,” added The Rock. “We’re aligned, just in terms of our work ethic and desire. When Tech and I first met years ago on the set of ‘Ballers,’ we were talking about the idea of being the hardest worker in the room. He said something that I really appreciated: basically, ‘There could never be enough food in this room or on this set that could make me full because I always want to be hungry.’ I just love that.” said Dwayne.
