Following his run with the Rwanda Patriots BBC within Basketball Africa League, Grammy Award-winning rapper J. Cole is apparently heading north to join the Scarborough Shooting Stars in the Canadian Elite Basketball League.

    J. Cole will now travel to CEBL offseason workouts in Scarborough to familiarize himself with his new squad in advance of the forthcoming season. As training camp began this week, Shams Charania of The Athletic revealed the news of Cole’s newest basketball venture on Thursday night May 19, 2022.

“J. Cole is signing a contract with the Scarborough Shooting Stars in the Canadian Elite Basketball League, the rap star’s second consecutive year playing professionally,” said Shams Charania of The Athletic.  He ended his post with “CEBL training camp began this week, with the season opener on May 26, 2022.”

Because the Shooting Stars are in their inaugural season, acquiring a well-known celebrity could help boost attendance this summer. The league is primarily made up of Canadians and is designed to nurture and promote Canadian players. Although the league has a regulation that requires 70 percent of the rosters to be Canadian, J Cole is expected to help bring in more attention and ticket sales. Which in return helps young talented Canadians to have more opportunities.
