Boosie Badazz, Kodak Black, and Rod Wave were reportedly among the guests at the White House’s 2025 Black History Month celebration, with President Donald Trump. The event, held on February 20, was surprising to some, given President Donald Trump’s ongoing push against diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) programs across the country.
According to the Associated Press, golf legend Tiger Woods was confirmed to be there, along with other invitees like former ESPN host Sage Steele and ex-NFL player Jack Brewer. A post from the White House later confirmed Kodak Black’s attendance, sharing a picture of him with the caption, “@KodakBlack in the People’s House.”
Donald TrumpMany in the hip-hop community have shown support for Donald Trump in different ways. Just last month, Snoop Dogg, Rick Ross, and Soulja Boy performed at the first-ever Crypto Ball, a party celebrating Trump’s return to office. Nelly also took the stage at his inauguration shortly after.
Boosie Badazz’s connection to Trump isn’t new—he has been pleading for a presidential pardon for months due to a gun case against him. After Trump won the election in November, Boosie took to social media to ask for a pardon, and when he didn’t get a response, he tried again in January when Trump officially took office.
Kodak Black has had a complicated relationship with Trump. The former president commuted his three-year prison sentence for falsifying documents to buy guns, earning Kodak’s support. However, in September, Kodak distanced himself from Trump after the politician made controversial claims about Haitian immigrants. Kodak, who is of Haitian descent, strongly disagreed with Trump’s statements, even suggesting he wouldn’t vote for him. Despite that, it seems he has since changed his stance.
Rod Wave’s involvement in politics has been minimal, making his appearance at the event even more surprising to fans. People have reacted strongly online, criticizing these rappers for their association with Trump. Some see it as selling out, while others argue it’s about personal or financial gain.
These three aren’t the only Black celebrities making headlines for their political choices. While some artists support Trump, others have taken a stand against him. Issa Rae, for instance, canceled an event at the Kennedy Center after Trump named himself chairman. No matter which side they’re on, Black celebrities are making their voices heard—though not everyone agrees with what they have to say.
