Rapper and singer Lay Bankz, 19, charts her first song on the Billboard Hot 100 with her breakthrough single, “Tell Ur Girlfriend,” which debuted at No. 58.
Released on February 7th, 2024 through Artist Partner Group, the track entered the Hot 100 primarily driven by its strong streaming performance, accumulating over 8.8 million US streams. It also jumped 45-24 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart, after becoming Lay Bankz‘s first overall Billboard chart entry the previous week, and debuted at No. 21 on the Hot Rap Songs chart.
The song has been popular on TikTok, ranking No. 11 on the TikTok Billboard Top 50 chart. “Tell Ur Girlfriend” follows Lay Bankz’s 2023 hits “Ick,” which reached No. 8 on the TikTok Billboard Top 50 in October, as well as the viral singles “Na Na Na” and “Left Cheek (Doo Doo Blick).” She also released a seven-track EP titled “Now You See Me” in August 2023.
Earlier this month, “Tell Ur Girlfriend” reached No. 64 on the Billboard Canadian Hot 100, marking Philadelphia rapper who is of Eritrean descent first international chart appearance.
