The collaborative efforts of Future and Metro Boomin have once again set the hip-hop world abuzz with the release of their latest album, “We Don’t Trust You.” Since its drop earlier this week, the project has been making waves, garnering attention for its stellar production and star-studded features.
Adding to the excitement surrounding the joint album, the duo unveiled the music video for one of its standout tracks, “Type S***,” featuring Travis Scott and Playboi Carti. The visuals, which premiered on Friday, March 22, showcase the four trap titans alongside their crew, including Ken Carson, Doe Boy, and CashXO, as they switch roles and vibe to the song in various settings, from a parking lot to a strip club.
However, “Type S***” is just one of the highlights of Future and Metro Boomin‘s latest record. Another track titled “Like That” features a surprise appearance from none other than Kendrick Lamar. In this song, the former TDE rapper doesn’t hold back, taking shots at his peers and asserting his dominance in the rap game.
Kendrick kicks off his verse with a bold declaration against “sneak dissing,” making references to Drake and J. Cole’s hit single “First Person Shooter.” He then asserts his position at the top of the rap hierarchy, referencing “the big three,” a term commonly used to describe him, Drake, and Cole as the primary stakeholders in modern hip-hop.
The Dreamville boss had previously mentioned Kendrick and “the big three” in “First Person Shooter,” but Kendrick takes it a step further, likening himself to Prince while suggesting that his legacy will surpass that of his contemporaries. He closes out the verse with a sharp reference to Drake’s 2023 album “For All the Dogs” and Stephen King’s novel “Pet Sematary,” delivering a potent message aimed at his competitors.
The release of “We Don’t Trust You” and its accompanying visuals for “Type S***” mark yet another milestone in the illustrious careers of Future, Metro Boomin, Travis Scott, Playboi Carti, and Kendrick Lamar. As fans continue to dissect the lyrics and vibe to the beats, it’s clear that this album will leave a lasting impact on the hip-hop landscape.
