GloRilla Announces Debut Album Slated for October Release

Hip-hop sensation GloRilla is set to crown her breakout year with the release of her highly anticipated debut album next month. The Memphis-born rapper shared the exciting news during an interview on the red carpet at the 2024 MTV Video Music Awards on September 11.

“I’m dropping an album next month, in October,” GloRilla revealed to Extra TV. “I’m so excited about that. We’re gonna go number one! The title starts with a ‘G.'”

While keeping the full album title under wraps, the hint has already ignited buzz among fans eager for new music. This upcoming project follows her April mixtape, Ehhthang Ehhthang,” a 12-track offering featuring collaborations with notable artists such as Moneybagg Yo, Megan Thee Stallion, Kevo Money, Real Boston Richey, and Finesse2Tymes.

At the VMAs, GloRilla delivered a high-energy performance of her hit single “TGIF.” The set nearly encountered a hiccup when a wardrobe change almost resulted in a malfunction. Transitioning from a suit to a bikini ensemble, her bra top began to slip. Quick thinking by one of her backup dancers averted any onstage mishap, allowing the show to continue flawlessly.

The past year has been monumental for GloRilla, who first burst onto the scene with her 2022 breakout single “F.N.F. (Let’s Go).” She followed up with “Tomorrow,” which gained even more traction after Cardi B jumped on the remix, amplifying its success.

Despite facing some hurdles in 2023, including criticism over her Fivio Foreign-assisted track “Cha Cha Cha,” GloRilla bounced back stronger than ever in 2024. Her singles “Yeah Glo!” and “Wanna Be” featuring Megan Thee Stallion both cracked the top 40 of the Billboard Hot 100, reaffirming her rising status in the industry. Additionally, “TGIF” became a viral hit, earning praise from none other than Rihanna.

Impressed by “TGIF,” Rihanna reached out to GloRilla with a message: “You got all summer sis! I know this is wild hypocritical but when the album drop?” Now, with the album set for October, fans and fellow artists alike are eagerly awaiting its release.

GloRilla has also opened up about using criticism as fuel for her success. Reflecting on a 2023 social media post where a user claimed she had “fallen off,” she shared, “I remember bookmarking this and telling myself, ‘They got you messed up so bad.’ This post didn’t do anything but put a battery in my back—I needed that. Don’t let these people write your story for you. Keep going!!!”

The Memphis, Tennessee rapper’s resilience and determination have not gone unnoticed. With a series of successful singles and a debut album on the horizon, GloRilla is set to make a significant impact on the hip-hop scene.

As October approaches, anticipation builds to see how GloRilla will continue to evolve as an artist. One thing is certain: with her talent and drive, she’s gearing up to claim her spot at the top.
