Kanye West and Ty Dolla $ign also known as “¥$” have announced plans to bring their Vultures listening experience to China, continuing their global tour of the event. Although the announcement was initially shared on Kanye’s Instagram, it was later deleted. The performance is scheduled for September 15th at an undisclosed venue in China.
Originally, West and Ty Dolla $ign were set to perform in Taiwan, but that event was canceled without explanation just days before it was supposed to take place. The decision to move the event to China is particularly notable given the ongoing governance conflict between Taiwan and China.
Kanye West (Now known as Ye) has a personal connection to China, having lived there briefly while his mother worked as a university lecturer at Nanjing University. This adds a layer of significance to the upcoming event.
The most recent Vultures listening experience took place in South Korea, where Kanye treated fans to a mix of his hits from the past 20 years. He performed classics like “Gold Digger” and “All of the Lights,” as well as more recent tracks such as “Ghost Town” and “Off the Grid.” The South Korea show was memorable not just for the music but for Kanye’s actions outside of the performances.
During the sold-out show at Goyang Stadium, which Ye entered on horseback, he surprised fans by dedicating his song “I Wonder” from his 2007 album Graduation to his on-again, off-again frenemy, Drake. He also dedicated the track to controversial fashion designer Ian Connor, who has faced accusations of rape.
In another notable moment, Kanye led the South Korean crowd in a “f*** Adidas” chant, reflecting his ongoing legal battle with the sportswear giant. Their once-lucrative Yeezy partnership was terminated in 2022 following Kanye’s antisemitic comments. Since then, Kanye has accused Adidas of stealing his ideas, suing him for hundreds of millions of dollars, and conspiring against him and his potential collaborators.
This bitter feud is expressed in the song “My Soul” from Vultures 2, where Kanye raps, “We mass targeted, mass-marketed / Mass incarceration, mass in police stations / Mass incorporated, f*** Adidas.” The China event promises to be another chapter in the evolving Vultures experience, with fans eagerly awaiting what surprises Kanye has in store.
