    Shaboozey’s ‘A Bar Song (Tipsy)’ Surpasses Beyoncé’s ‘Texas Hold ‘Em’ Making History as First Two Black Artists to Lead Billboard Top 5 Country Chart

    Shaboozey single “A Bar Song (Tipsy)” has surpasses Beyoncé’s single  “Texas Hold ‘Em” on Billboard Country Chart making them both the first two black artists to create a new record.

    Beyoncé’s latest studio album, Cowboy Carter, has ignited a revolution in country music, pushing the genre’s boundaries with her unique perspective. The record’s lead single, “Texas Hold ‘Em,” made history as the first chart-topping country song for a Black woman artist on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart.

    Now, one of Beyoncé’s collaborators, Nigerian-American musician Shaboozey, is carrying the torch for another groundbreaking achievement. Shaboozey’s single “A Bar Song (Tipsy)” climbed from Number 6 to Number 1 on the Hot Country Songs chart, dethroning “Texas Hold ‘Em” after a 10-week #1 winning streak. This is the first time in the history of the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart, which has been an all-genre country chart since 1958, that two Black artists have consecutively held the number one position.

    Shaboozey “A Bar Song (Tipsy)” is from his highly praised album “Where I’ve Been, Isn’t Where I’m Going,” which was released May, 31, 2024. “A Bar Song (Tipsy)” experienced significant growth in streaming, radio airplay, and sales. The song saw a surge of 95% in official U.S. streams, reaching 20.9 million, and a massive increase of 1,202% in radio airplay audience impressions, totaling 170,000. Sales for the track jumped by 48% to 14,000 during the week of April 19-25. He also is featured in Beyoncé’s album “Cowboy Carter, ” with two singles “Spaghettii” (which also include Linda Martell) and “Sweet Honey Buckiin’.”

    Beyoncé’s “Texas Hold ‘Em” held the number one spot for 10 consecutive weeks following its release and is currently ranked at #3, making it the first single from a Black female artist to top the Billboard Country chart.

    Cowboy Carter (also referred to as Act II: Cowboy Carter) is the eighth studio album from Texas’s singer Beyoncé, released on March 29, 2024. It includes “Texas Hold ‘Em,” holding the spot for Top Country Albums for over four week with 66,000 equivalent album units. The album follows her previous album Renaissance released in 2022. The album features country singers Dolly Parton, Linda Martell, and Willie Nelson, it also includes Black country artists such as Willie Jones, Tiera Kennedy, Tanner Adell, Brittney Spencer,Reyna Roberts, and Shaboozey.

    This historic moment for both Beyoncé and Shaboozey is a testament to the growing diversity and inclusivity in the country music genre. Their achievements pave the way for more Black artists to break down barriers and redefine the boundaries of country music
