Best known by his stage name Shyne, Moses Michael Levi Barrow (born Jamal Michael Barrow; the former Bad Boy artist turned Belizean politician, is set to have his remarkable life story showcased in an upcoming documentary titled “The Honorable: Shyne.” DJ Khaled is attached to the project as a producer, adding star power to this captivating journey.
“The Honorable: Shyne” will take viewers on a compelling ride through Shyne’s life, chronicling his transformation from a rising hip-hop artist to becoming the Leader of the Opposition in the Belize House of Representatives and the leader of the Belize United Democratic Party. The documentary promises to delve into the wild twists and turns that have defined his life.
This exciting project is the result of a deal struck earlier this year between Shyne and Disney-owned brands ESPN and Andscape. Speaking about his story and its impact, Shyne expressed, “Immigrating from Belize to Brooklyn as a child left to survive and thrive in the concrete jungle of New York, Hip Hop had a massive influence on my life, giving me the space and community to explore my creativity and amplify the voice of my pain and purpose.”
He continued, “The difficult decisions of my life have shaped me into the person I am today, steadfast in my desire to build a better life for the people of Belize and humanity.”
Shyne’s hope is that his story will inspire others to discover their inner strength and resilience, enabling them to overcome life’s adversities and make a positive impact on their communities, much like he has done through music, faith, and public service.
“The Honorable: Shyne” is in capable hands, with Marcus A. Clarke directing and production by ColorCreative. As part of the collaboration between Shyne and Disney, fans can anticipate not only the documentary but also a scripted biopic, a docu-series, and an autobiography, all produced with the involvement of DJ Khaled and Roc Nation.
While a release date for “The Honorable: Shyne” has not been set, Shyne had previously revealed his plans for these documentary projects back in 2021, emphasizing his commitment to creating accompanying soundtracks for each. He saw these projects as an opportunity to provide a platform for Belizean musicians alongside his American artist friends.
As the documentary continues to take shape, fans and viewers alike can look forward to a deeper understanding of Shyne’s incredible journey, from his roots in Belize to his influential role in both the hip-hop industry and Belizean politics.
