With his new track “Wait For U,” Future has soared to the top of the Billboard Hot 100. Drake and Nigerian superstar singer Tems are featured on the single, which was published on the rapper’s new album ‘I Never Liked You.’

It earns Future his second No. 1 hit, Drake his 10th and Tems her first.
The album was released on April 29th, 2022, with Both ” Wait For U” music video being added on May 3, 2022. The song received 40.2 million streams, 7.9 million radio airplay audience impressions, and 6,400 downloads in its first week, according to Billboard.
Tems has his first No. 1, Future has his second, and Drake has his tenth. Drake is the only rapper in history to have ten singles chart at number one on the Billboard Hot 100. “Wait For U” was not the only track from the album to be released. “Wait” marks Future’s second number one on the coveted chart. “I’m on One,” which also features Drake, is at No. 11, while Ye’s “Keep it Burning” is at No. 15. Future’s first No. 1 hit was last year when he was featured on Drake’s “Way 2 Sexy,” which also included Young Thug.

Future’s I Never Liked You debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 albums chart, giving him his ninth overall No. 1. The album sold 222,000 album-equivalent units, with 214,000 of those being digital units, for a total of 283.75 million on-demand streams for the songs on the album. His recent record had the highest first-week sales of any record released thus far this year.

Tems makes history by becoming the only female and second Nigerian-born artist to top the Hot 100 in its history with the release of ‘Wait.’ Wizkid, her ‘Essence’ collaborator, is the first, having been on Drake’s ‘One Dance’ in 2016. Future also joins Drake as the only Hip-Hop artist to premiere a song and album at #1 on the Hot 100 and Billboard 200 at the same time following hitting #1 on the Billboard 200.
