Kevin Gates has often given back to his community, and now the Louisiana native is being recognized with a key for his hometown as recognition of his contributions.
The 37-year-old rapper posted a video on Instagram on Saturday, April 8th, 2023, showing himself receiving an award with the accolade at his concert on Friday night April 7th at the Raising Canes River Center Arena in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

Kevin Jerome Gilyard, commonly known as Kevin Gates, explained to retired NFL players Brandon Marshall, LeSean McCoy, and DeSean Jackson in the latest episode of the “I Am Athlete podcast” that he kept on getting sick as a result of not being truthful. His throat chakra began to become blocked as a result of not speaking out and expressing the truth, and he began to feel ill. However, since he began becoming truthful, he hasn’t felt ill.
“From me not telling the truth, my throat chakra started getting blocked and I started getting sick, I started having colds until I started opening my throat chakra and speaking the truth. I haven’t been sick since.”
