CMG The Label (Collective Music Group), was founded by the superstar rapper Yo Gotti whose real name is Mario Mims from Memphis, Tennessee. CMG’s President Bradon Mims (Yo Gotti’s cousin) & Yo Gotti created a team of veterans and up-and-coming rap artists poised to take summer 2022 by storm. With acts such as Moneybagg Yo, EST Gee, Blac Youngsta, 42 Dugg, Mozzy, Blockboy JB, Big Boogie, Lil Poppa, and Lehla Samia. Each artist on CMG is applying pressure in the hip hop music industry in their own rights, this time they come as a group to release the anticipated compilation album “Gangsta Art.” With this release, Yo Gotti looks to show the evolution of CMG & versatility of artists and their skills.
The eagerly awaited “Gangsta Art” compilation album was officially released, on July 15, 2022, by Yo Gotti and his CMG record label. They had previously dropped numerous tracks including “Big League,” with Mozzy and Lil Poppa, which also was featured as the 2022 NBA Finals’ theme song. Along with “Rocky Road,” with Moneybagg Yo and Kodak Black, and “Steppers,” with 42 Dugg, Moneybagg Yo, EST Gee, and Mozzy. Kodak Black, BIG 30, and Coi Leray were also featured on the album as guest appearances on the 27-tracklist compilation “Gangsta Art”.
Yo Gotti said that he thought it was time for a CMG album because their music has been really loved by fans ( as their streams on all platforms can prove) lately while he was on Instagram live last Wednesday, July 6. A few days following that, they released the album’s lead single, “Steppers,” along with a great music video that further boosted the song.
Throughout the 2022 spring and summer, Yo Gotti has continued to work on adding additional artists to his CMG label. Artists such as Mozzy, Lehla Samia, and last month’s signee Glorilla, who gained popularity this year with her first single, “F.N.F. (Lets Go).”
This past February on the 4th, Yo Gotti additionally released his eleventh studio album. It was released as a double album, titled “CM10: Free Game.” When the CM series first began, it was released as a mixtape in 2008. 42 Dugg, Blac Youngsta, EST Gee, Kodak Black, Moneybagg Yo, Shenseea, and DaBaby were featured on the album. The album appeared on the US Billboard 200 albums chart ranking number three.
