Coi Leray is now surging on the success of her recent single “Blick Blick,” which she collaborated on with Nicki Minaj. With a hit single now ascending the Hip-Hop charts, the rising star has shifted her attention to her new album. Coi Leray’s newest album will soon be here, after a lengthy wait.
Coi Leray revealed her Trendsetter LP would be released on April 8, via streaming platforms through 1801 Records/Republic Records. On Instagram, Monday, March 28, 2022.
The 24-year-old rapper also revealed the album’s cover art, which features her falling down between her legs and grasping her face with a horrified expression. It also has colorful animated designs of koi fish, stars, and planets around the trendsetter herself.
“I just want to finally let y’all b****s know, ain’t nobody fw me in that booth. This will be one of the biggest female artist albums in the world and I put my life on it,” Coi Leray wrote on Instagram. “It’s not a race, it’s a Trendsetter Marathon. welcome to Trendsetter World B****!”
Trendsetter is the follow-up to Coi Leray’s 2020s Now or Never EP, which included Gunna, Fetty Wap, and Sevyn Streeter among its guests. While no official tracklist for Trendsetter has been released, Coi has teased guest appearances from A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie, Pooh Shiesty, G Herbo, Lil Durk, Polo G, H.E.R., and NAV.
Coi Leray also uploaded a short film recounting her rough route to her new album, which included earning a major label deal in early 2018, suffering criticism for her XXL Freshman freestyle in 2020, and demonstrating her haters incorrect with her hit tracks like “Twinnem,”, “Okay Yeah”, “Anxiety” and “No More Parties.” It is Coi Leray’s most recent hit that has the potential to be her breakthrough, before her album releases.
Coi recently received over six nominees from iHeart Radio without a recent album, just singles and heavy collaboration with many artists.
In 2019, Coi Leray debuted her Everythingcoz EP, followed by EC2 in 2020.
The Nicki Minaj-assisted “Blick Blick,” which was released earlier this month, debuted at No. 37 on this week’s Billboard Hot 100, marking Coi’s highest-charting track to date. The collaboration also topped Billboard’s Digital Song Sales list, giving the New Jersey native her first No. 1 hit and Nicki her eighth, the most of any female artist on the chart.
